About the artist:
Ray Muna is a British artist who is intrigued by the recurring
expressions of life, death and rebirth in myth and nature. Mesopotamian
gods and stories are rich with all of these. She explores the themes
using watercolour and natural materials such as seeds, leaves, earth and
clay. Ray has been working in pencil and watercolour for over twenty
years and finds great satisfaction in portraying the cycles of life in
these media. |
About this work:
Shamash, the sun god, is also the god of justice. ‘My depiction of him
attempts to demonstrate how I imagine both his power of light and his
role as an arbitrator.’ |
