Inanna’s Wedding

In Mesopotamian mythology, the young goddess (or dingir) Inanna has to choose to marry the farmer or the shepherd. She chose Dumuzi, the shepherd-god. Their wedding was celebrated in festivals. These included games, a parade, music, songs and a feast for which cattle and sheep were slaughtered.
