Atrahasis

At the British Museum, project participants saw the clay tablet on which the Atrahasis story is written in cuneiform script. It tells how humans were created from clay to work for the great gods after the little gods went on strike. When humans multiplied, the noise of their raised voices annoyed the almighty god Enlil so he tried to kill them all with diseases, drought and then a great flood. Each time, humankind was saved by the god of fresh water and wisdom, Enki.
