A lamassu for London and Nineveh

Date syrup is important in the stories of Mesopotamian mythology. As a young man, the mythological hero Lugalbanda is left behind in a mountain cave by his weeping brothers, who think he is dead.

They leave behind with Lugalbanda some date syrup. Lugalbanda revives. He goes on to become the King of Uruk and father of Gilgamesh. Thanks, in part, to the wonderfulness of date syrup!
