Fran at St Peter's Church arts festival

The week-long celebration of the arts at St Peter’s Church in Belsize Square included Punch and Judy shows, classical music, choral singing, late-night jazz, new drama, dance, painting, poetry, and tales from ancient Mesopotamia introduced and told by ZIPANG storyteller Fran Hazelton.

In the delightful Lady Chapel, the audience learned to say the Sumerian word for “mysteries of everything”—me (pronounced may). They heard and contributed to the Sumerian story that tells how Inana, dingir of Unug, visited the dingir Enki in Eridu and brought back the me to her city in the Boat of Heaven, fighting off monsters sent from Eridu to stop her.
